- La Citroën Traction est une voiture légendaire qui a révolutionné le monde de l'automobile. Elle a été produite de 1934 à 1957 et a connu plusieurs générations. Le modèle 11 BL a commencé à sortir des chaînes de production en 1937 en versions berline, coupé et cabriolet.~
- Il se distinguait de la série précédente par une carrosserie plus grande, une direction à crémaillère, un moteur de 11 CV, une nouvelle instrumentation embarquée et une sellerie profilée.~
- Le design du cabriolet a été attribué à Jean Daninos, alors jeune ingénieur, qui deviendra plus tard le propriétaire et le créateur de la Facel Vega. ╖ l'époque, il était également impératif de réutiliser autant de pièces que possible de la berline afin de réduire les coûts de production.~
- Il s'agissait donc d'un roadster, dont la partie avant reprenait des éléments de la berline et dont la partie arrière était creusée pour accueillir le spider, conçu pour accueillir deux jeunes enfants et justifier le fait que la voiture pouvait transporter quatre passagers. Les derniers modèles décapotables ont été produits en 1939.~
- Tous modèles confondus, on estime qu'environ 450 des 4 672 cabriolets produits à l'époque existent encore, selon le spécialiste Olivier de Serres. La voiture qui illustre ces pages, châssis #140515 appartenait à un amateur de la Dordogne, jusqu'en 1998, année où elle fut vendue au Pays-Bas. On ne sait pas grand-chose de son histoire, ni a quelle période elle fut équipée d'un ensemble moteur-boîte de DS. Pas utilisée depuis son achat en 2017, cette étonnante Traction Cabriolet sera à redémarrer.~

- The Citroën Traction is a legendary car that revolutionised the automotive world. It was produced from 1934 to 1957 and went through several generations. The 11 BL model began rolling off the production lines in 1937 in saloon, coupé and convertible versions.~
- It differed from the previous series in that it had a larger body, rack-and-pinion steering, an 11 hp engine, new on-board instrumentation and streamlined upholstery.~
- The convertible design was attributed to Jean Daninos, then a young engineer, who would later become the owner and creator of Facel Vega. At the time, it was also imperative to reuse as many parts as possible from the saloon in order to reduce production costs.~
- It was therefore a roadster, with the front end incorporating elements from the saloon and the rear end hollowed out to accommodate the spider, designed to seat two small children and justify the fact that the car could carry four passengers. The last convertible models were produced in 1939.~
- According to specialist Olivier de Serres, it is estimated that around 450 of the 4,672 convertibles produced at the time still exist, all models combined. The car featured on these pages, chassis #140515, belonged to an enthusiast in the Dordogne until 1998, when it was sold to the Netherlands. Little is known about its history, or when it was fitted with a DS engine and gearbox. Not used since its purchase in 2017, this stunning Traction Cabriolet will need to be restarted.~
