Trần Quang Trân, également connu comme Ngym, intègre la troisième promotion de l’École des beaux-arts en 1927 et en sort diplômé en 1932, il étudie notamment en même temps que Lê Thị Lựu.
Très peu d’oeuvres nous sont aujourd’hui parvenues, mais celles connues ont en commun un goût et un talent certain pour les paysages et les architectures vietnamiennes. Ici, un muret est esquissé en arrière-plan, à côté une mare est entourée de végétation. Un travail précis est effectué sur la lumière et le travail des nuances de vert et de brun. L’artiste semble intégrer pleinement les leçons de la peinture en extérieur, enseignée notamment par Joseph Inguimberty, professeur à l’École des beaux-arts de 1925 à 1945.
Trần Quang Trân, còn được biết đến với bút danh Ngym, là học sinh khóa III của Trường Cao đẳng Mỹ thuật Đông Dương vào năm 1927 và tốt nghiệp năm 1932, ông học cùng khoá với Lê Thị Lựu.
Rất ít tác phẩm của ông còn tồn tại cho đến ngày nay, nhưng những tác phẩm được biết đến đều thể hiện rõ nét gu thẩm mỹ và tài năng nổi bật trong việc khắc họa phong cảnh và kiến trúc Việt Nam.
Trong bức tranh này, một bức tường thấp được phác thảo ở phần hậu cảnh, bên cạnh đó là một chiếc ao nhỏ được cây cối bao quanh.
Tác phẩm cho thấy sự tỉ mỉ trong cách xử lý ánh sáng và sự phối hợp tinh tế giữa các sắc thái xanh lá và nâu. Có vẻ như họa sĩ đã tiếp thu hoàn toàn các bài học về nghệ thuật trực hoạ được Joseph Inguimberty - giáo viên tại Trường Mỹ thuật Đông Dương từ năm 1925 đến năm 1945, giảng dạy.
